Skate camp staff have the unique opportunity to work in a skate park like no other. Staff help build skateboarding skills while developing campers’ confidence and a love for the outdoors. Youth Camp Job Descriptions

Coordinator

The Program Coordinator is responsible for effectively sharing information, scheduling, and evaluating camp staff. They are assuring that health, safety, and program goals are being met in an efficient, positive and effectively under the supervision of the Director. This includes creating new and fun ways to have staff interact with families and youth day to day.

Unit Leader

Unit Leaders oversee, evaluate, and support cabin leaders in their assigned unit to provide strong and positive can-do attitude each week. It is the Unit Leaders job to make sure each cabin is taken care of while providing campers with a memorable time at camp. This position will also organize and run all camp activities.

Youth Leader

Youth Leaders, commonly referred to as cabin counselors provides leadership and guidance for a cabin of 5-8 campers, ensuring a quality experience for children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. A youth leader creates positive, nurturing relationships with children while ensuring campers are safe and adhere to rules and schedules. Under the direction of the Unit Leader, the Summer Camp Counselor will be responsible for implementing and execution of program activities and other duties as assigned.

Program Staff
- (Adventure)

In addition to leading/assisting with general camp programs, Adventure staff will focus on adventure activities, High Ropes, Giants Ladder, and Rock Wall. They assist in the proper care, monitoring, storage, and use of any and all equipment including all related safety checks. These positions require a high level of competence in risk management, emergency response. Certification is offered through the YMCA during staff training. No prior experience is required.

Program Staff
- (Lifeguard)

This position will supervise the waterfront and waterfront activities for all swimmers. Current Lifeguard certification is necessary and camp will provide certification upon completion of course.

Program staff at Skate Camp oversee a particular area (Arts and crafts / office admin and camp store / waterfront / media production / general programing). If your program area is not being used you will be leading and assisting with other programs.

Family Camp Job Descriptions

Assistant Coordinator

This role will focus on program activities and planning. In addition, they are assisting in theĀ sharing of information, scheduling, and evaluating with camp staff and assuring that health, safety, and program goals are being met in an efficient, positive and effective manner under the supervision of the Program Coordinator and Director.

Program Staff

In addition to leading/assisting with general camp programs, this position will lead activities with Family Camp adults and children between the ages of 5-17. With such activities in sports, field games, arts and crafts, and campfire. You do it all in this role and focus on working directly with the campers.

Program Staff - (Adventure)

The Registrar is an integral part of the camp office team and is responsible for coordinating paperwork and administrative tasks for the summer programs, organizing the pre-camp paperwork, and is responsible for the intake, and management of camper information.

Support Staff Job Descriptions

Lead Cook

The Lead cook is responsible for effectively sharing information, scheduling, and evaluating with kitchen staff and assuring that health, safety, and staff goals are being met in an efficient, positive and effective manner under the supervision of the CEO. Being fully capable of providing food to standard for day to day success in the kitchen and continuously keeping track of ingredients and stock take.

Prep Cook

Cooks are responsible for effectively sharing information, effectively taking inventory, and prepping food with other kitchen staff and assuring that health, safety, and staff goals are being met in an efficient, positive and effective manner under the supervision of the Head Cook. Being fully capable of providing food to standard for day to day success in the kitchen.

Hospitality

Staff will assist with day-to-day operations of cleaning, sanitizing, and providing a quality service of facilities as needed. You will be required to assist with additional activities throughout the day to encourage a welcoming environment. Duties include washing dishes, cleaning, facilities, and learning proper cleaning methods.

Maintenance

Staff will be leading/assisting with day to day operations of providing a quality service of facilities as needed. This will entail manual labor, facility maintenance, cleaning, and disposing of debris. You may be required to drive a company vehicle given approval through Golden State YMCA Insurance. You will be required to assist with additional activities throughout the day to encourage a welcoming environment. As an exempt staff member at YMCA Camp Sequoia Lake, you will report directly to the Property Manager and Director.
